Police on hunt for suspect connected to BB-gun shootings

CRESCENT CITY, Calif. (KIEM)-The Crescent City Police is on the hunt for a man suspected of shooting two women with what police say is a BB-gun.

A suspect is accused of shooting two women with a BB-gun, according To Crescent City’s Police Chief Richard Griffin.

“The first incident reported about five o’clock Monday evening on the West End of West 5th Street, about a half-an-hour after the incident happened.

“They were actually hit in the head and had to go to the hospital to get their injuries taken care of there,” said Griffin.

Later that night, about an-hour-and-half later, CCPD officers received another call about an additional victim also hit with a BB, however, the second victim wasn’t alone.   

“She was down there with her two juvenile children in the same area and same issue happened to her, the BB’s, the pellets , were going by her.

The mom, and her kids, forced to run towards the beach to avoid being hit.

The suspected driver is described as a white male in his 30’s or 40’s, with red hair.

He also has red facial hair and wears glasses, according to Griffin.

“There was a younger white male adult in the passenger seat at one point in a vehicle,” he said. “And the vehicle was seen at both incidents.”

The passenger described as younger and also with red hair and glasses.

“There is a suspect vehicle described to us as Dodge Caravan or mini-van of similar styles, newer and silver, or gray in color with a possible sticker in the back window,” he said.

CCPD is going through surveillance video, anyone with security cameras near W. 5th and Taylor streets, is asked to call (707) 464-2133.

“I don’t know if it’s a public safety issue as far as ongoing or not, were hoping this is a single incident,” he said.
