Providence Health hosting community health forum on Redwood Memorial obstetrics transition

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — Providence Health is hosting another community health forum on Wednesday. This one on the transition of the obstetrics program from Redwood Memorial Hospital in Fortuna to St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka.

This is the 2nd installment of the medical group’s community education series that hopes to inform the public about the plan to transition childbirth services, which is happening July 1st. Leadership officials and clinical teams will provide updates and combat any misinformation circulating about the upcoming changes. There will also be a live Q&A session for the community to ask questions.

“We definitely want to listen, but what we understand is that for many people this is highly emotional topic. We’re really trying to not create a forum for that emotional reaction, which is a different type of a thing, but to create consistent information so that they have all the information that is available,” according to Dr. Roberta Luskin-Hawk, Chief Executive for Providence in Humboldt County.

The forum is Wednesday night at 6 pm. You can RSVP by emailing norcalmarcomm@providence.org or by visiting their website, www.providence.org.
