Arts! Arcata starts monthly art celebration

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM)- Arcata Main Street hosted Arts! Arcata, a monthly celebration of visual and performing arts in downtown Arcata.

Main Street started their first Arts! Arcata event this weekend and it will happen the second weekend of every month this year.

Local artists are able to showcase their artwork in some of the businesses, galleries and restaurants in the Arcata Plaza and all across downtown.

Not only do artists showcase their work at the local businesses, they also get to use the public outdoor spaces, like sidewalks, to display their work.

“Just offering that, let’s change over the art every month guys. Let’s do that again and that’s been really sweet for the businesses,” said Shoshanna Anthony, the Event Coordinator for Arcata Main Street. “So, they get a chance to be able to feature the art that is coming into their spaces. Hopefully it’s a win, win for everybody and they all stay safe and it continues to open up safely.”
