Local tribes receive millions of dollars from the Federal Government

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – A second round of money from the Federal Government is going to local Native American tribes.

Five tribes in the state will be getting part of $90 million dollars that is being allocated by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

In our area, the Hoopa tribe will be getting five million dollars and the Karuk tribe will be getting about two million and 35 thousand dollars.

The money will be used for new housing construction and infrastructure projects.
