DEL NORTE COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-This year’s Del Norte County Fair is scheduled for August 5th, through the 8th.

However, if the reopening plans change on the state or federal level, the event will adjust accordingly.

County fair officials will continue to follow all state, federal and county guidelines, according to the Fair’s Chief Executive Officer Kim Floyd.

“If for some reason the colored tier does not go away after June 15th, then we will be adhering to that. So, we will be having a carnival, Paul Mauer Amusements will be returning, as well,” she said.” We’ll have the livestock, as well as the demolition derby and the bulls and barrels rodeo on Saturdays.”

Floyd says their phones have been inundated with calls from local acts interested in playing at this year’s county fair, for two years artisans have been working on their home-goods, as well as arts and crafts, in hopes the fair will continue as planned.

Floyd says in the past 47-years she’s never missed a county fair, except for last year, when the decision was made to cancel. Something she and her staff hope to never experience again.

“We actually had manager counseling sessions, where we would sit and talk about it because the fair is not just a job us, it’s our lives, it was extremely hard on all of us.”
