Fans return to Redwood Acres Raceway for season opener

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – Racing officially returns to Redwood Acres with the season opener. The raceway welcomed fans back for the first time since 2019.

A limited capacity crowd provided a lively atmosphere. While masking and social distancing, fans had the chance to see the new scoreboard and spotter’s tower in addition to a full night of racing.

The season opener featured all five local divisions. The Roadrunner and Mini Stock divisions competed in 20 lap main events. The Bombers and Legends races were 25 and 30 laps, respectively. In the final race of the night, the Late Models squared off in a 50 lap main event.

Saturday’s season opener was the first of 11 scheduled race dates this season. The next event is set for May 15. Roadrunners, Mini Stocks, Bombers, and Legends will return to the 3/8-mile oval, while Late Models will have the night off.
