A local organization helps to celebrate National Bike Month

It is May and that means it’s time to hop on your bike and celebrate National Bike Month.

Bike month is celebrated in communities across the country and is a chance to showcase the health and ecofriendly benefits of riding a bike and encourage a sense of community and the Bike Month Humboldt Coalition promotes bike month every year in Humboldt County.

Even though there won’t be a large public riding event this year, there are still ways to participate in this month’s festivities including a month-long bike challenge, zoom classes on bike safety, a scavenger hunt and many other events.

“One of the other events that we have, or a game rather, is bike month bingo,” said Stevie Luther, and organizer for the Bike Month Humboldt Coalition. “It’s a sheet people can pick up at the North Coast Co-op and it’s just got squares or different ride types you can check off from different things you see along the trails.”
