California Highway Patrol: maximum enforcement over Memorial Day Weekend

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – Memorial Day Weekend is the traditional start to the summer travel season. The California Highway Patrol is gearing up for it with a maximum enforcement period.

That means more officers out on the roads looking for dangerous drivers and people who are not wearing their seatbelts.

The maximum enforcement period begins Friday evening and lasts until midnight on Monday.

Last year during Memorial Day Weekend, 31 people died in crashes and 854 people were arrested for D.U.I.
