Fortuna Rotary Club raises $21,000 for Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department

FORTUNA, Calif. (KIEM)- The Fortuna Sunrise Club raised more than $20,000 with the “All Fired Up” fundraiser to help the Volunteer Fire Department. The check was presented earlier this afternoon.

“When a call goes out to help our neighbors, Fortuna steps up. When there’s some serious needs, Fortuna steps forward,” said Simon Rios, President of Fortuna Sunrise Rotary Club.

The “All Fired Up” Fundraiser included a barbecue dinner. The turn-out was great and even restaurant owners came to the event simply to show their support for the fire department.

“With everything that was going on in the world, we felt like our club, Fortuna Sunrise Rotary, really wanted to give back to the community more and we really felt like first responders was a great, worthy cause and Fortuna Fire Department became the catalyst for that,” said Rios.

The money raised will go toward making the volunteer firefighter experience a better one.
