EUREKA, Cali. (KIEM)- On June 28th governor, Gavin Newsom signed legislation to extend the state’s eviction moratorium. Low-income Californians that suffered economic hardship due to the pandemic will have the chance to clear rent debt. As part of the legislation, the local tribal non-profit organization Northern California Indian Development Council offers Emergency Assistance services on housing, utilities, and nutrition services.

“The thing is that happens to native people in California as a lot of time tribal governments will cover their own tribal members living within their own reservation boundaries we have a lot of native people in California so we will serve any Indian person whether they are from a California tribe or one of the other federally recognized tribes in other parts of the country,” said Greg Gehr.
