(Downsized) Cannabis Farm Approved in Arcata

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM)- The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors met in the middle Tuesday night for a final decision on the Sun Valley Group’s proposed cannabis farm at Arcata Bottoms. They approved a downsized version of the original proposal, 5.7 acres.

The supervisors that voted no thought this proposal was too large and didn’t want more than two acres. While two other supervisors were willing to approve up to 8 acres of land.

However 2nd district supervisor Michelle Bushnell wasn’t willing to go past 5.7 acres of land and the other supervisors joined her decision.

That ended up making the final vote 3-2.

This final decision was made after public comments, numerous meetings with the board members,  and discussion with the CEO and president of Sun Valley Group.
