Black and Brown Arts for Young Minds

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)- Humboldt County Office of Education has partnered up with North Coast Repertory Theatre and the group Black Humboldt to work on a new project for kids.

The project “Black and Brown Arts for Young Minds” was funded by the Humboldt County Office of Education.

Black and brown arts for young minds will be a series of 10 videos by black and brown local artists teaching instructional lessons on art.

The videos will be distributed to schools across Humboldt county. The goal of the project is to expose students to different types of art.

Black Humboldt is still looking for local artists to be a part of the project.

“This whole project is about creating and making that available to the youth of Humboldt county; we are accepting art for anything,” said Michelle Purnell, Black and Brown arts for Young Minds.

Artists can visit the black Humboldt Instagram page to view a link to apply. Selected artists for videos will be awarded a stipend.
