The Humboldt County Fair is back but, not without some controversy

FERNDALE, Calif. (KIEM)- The Humboldt County Fair continues through the rest of the week, but not without some controversy.

Since the recent surge of covid cases and hospitalizations, lots of people in the community felt that it was a bad idea to continue with the fair.

But organizers decided that the event could be held safely and now they admit, it hasn’t been easy to enforce their mask rule.

“We have been having a struggle trying to get people to wear their masks,” said the Fair Administrator Katherine Ziemer. “We are enforcing all of our employees, all of our workers to wear a mask but once people get through the gate, they seem to think they can take them off.”

So, just a reminder, fair goers are required to wear a mask anytime they’re on the fairgrounds.
