The Big Chili Cook-off Kicks off Friday

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM)- Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Coast in Eureka is hosting their 10th Annual Big Chili Cook-off. The event begins Friday October 29th and ends November 5th. Local restaurants and chefs will have the opportunity to serve their signature chili dishes and proceeds go directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs in Eureka.

The Chili Cook-off has become a week long event for the second year to encourage social distancing and avoid large crowds.

To participate, community members are encouraged to post their favorite dish on social media. Customers are the judges and the restaurant with the most votes and reposts win. 

“This way everybody can participate in the cook-off at their own comfortability; whatever they can do to participate. The proceeds will help us continue with our mentoring. We reintroducing our site base mentoring and partnering with local elementary schools and after school programs,” said Jennifer Maksim, Office Manager, Big Brothers Big Sister of the North Coast.
