ARCATA, Calif.(KIEM)- After the pandemic forced one of Arcata’s Halloween traditions to be modified last year, Arcata main street was excited to be able to host an in-person Halloween event at the Arcata plaza.

Today, the Arcata Plaza was full of trick-or-treaters as Arcata’s Main Street hosted the Halloween Fairy’s Plaza Party. The event was made possible due to the outdoor events grant that Arcata received.

“Just some chance to dress up, have some candy, have some fun, tarot card readers, caramel apples, Nicaraguan food, music, a lot of faces painting, art, everything you can want,” said Shoshana Anthony, Event Organizer with the Arcata Main street.

The event was from 11 A.M.  to 4 P.M. but was expected to host an after-party with an additional band.

Everyone who attended the event seemed very excited to celebrate Halloween with others since last year, events like this weren’t possible due to covid restrictions.

The Dead Drop is a seasonal band that only plays once a year. They usually play at Haunted Kinetic Lab of Horror, but it was canceled this year due to covid. So got very excited when they asked them to play this year.

“And then we just got blessed with this; we have never played in the daytime; when you are dead, the sunlight is disturbing because you know after you die, they only let you come to the physical world on Halloween,” said Brad Harder, Lead Guitar player with The DeadDrop.

Overall the event was a success with many happy trick-or-treaters.
