The Department of Health and Human Services held its first conference of the year

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif.(KIEM)- The Department of Health and Human Services held its first conference of the year today.

Based on a genomic sequencing done a few weeks ago, they announced that omicron has reached Humboldt County and is circulating through the community, and we are starting to see the beginning surge.

“We are starting to see a sharp increase in cases over the last week. A small bump in hospitalizations and extreme staffing shortages, and I think that’s where the focus for a lot of places has been. Because this is spreading so dramatically and so quickly through communities, it makes it hard for everyone to stay open,” said Dr. Ian Hoffman, Health Officer at The Department of Health and Human Services.
