The family of a Redway Man is suing the state of California

The family of a Redway man is suing the state of California. They are claiming its negligence was responsible for his death last year. 

The suit stems from a pick-up truck crash because of a fallen tree along highway 101. 52-year-old Ruben Supulveda died in the May of 2021 collision along a section of the highway near Humboldt Redwood State Park. 

The lawsuit contends state workers failed to properly maintain trees in the forest and remove those that are decayed or deceased. 

The suit seeks damages but does not specify a dollar amount.
