Local Eureka shop prepared customers for a spike in prices since last year

EUREKA, Calif.(KIEM)- A local business located in Henderson Center, like many other businesses, has seen a spike in merchandise cost. Still, the business owners are not surprised since merchandise cost hasn’t risen in the past few years.

“And it feels significant because our prices haven’t increased since 2019, so obviously 2020, 2021 we didn’t see a significant difference…And now prices have gone up,” said Chrissy Ross, Owner of Annie’s Shoes.

Annie’s Shoes mentioned they had seen a spike of about 5 to 10 dollars on their merchandise. While Annie’s Shoes doesn’t have a price increase related to shipping, their manufacturers see an increase due to the inability to receive items due to shipping, leading to a price increase.

“Shipping has been a problem with our companies getting stuff…I personally haven’t seen the huge increase, but give us a few months, and we will start feeling that trickling down also,” said Chrissy Ross.

Many customers are aware of the rise in inflation in just about every industry, so they haven’t heard any complaints from customers due to prices going up.

“But I also have been warning customers since last year that prices will increase going up,” said Chrissy Ross.
