Omicron Surge

Humboldt County Health leaders tonight say they are confident that we are past the peak of the recent omicron surge locally. However, global health leaders are continuing to keep an eye on an omicron sub-variant that is rapidly replacing the original in many areas. Early data suggests the BA2 strain does not cause severe disease any more than the original omicron variant. And it seems vaccines are about as effective against this sub-variant as they are against the original omicron.
