Mask Mandate to be Lifted

NORTH COAST, Calif. (KIEM) Both Humboldt and Del Norte Counties now say they will follow the state of California’s lead and lift indoor mask orders next week.

The decision by state leaders on February 8, 2022, to lift California’s mask mandate had still allowed for individual counties to keep their own mask rules in effect.

But the public health officers for both Humboldt and Del Norte Counties announced that their counties will rescind their orders as of a week from today. However, in both counties the mask mandate will only end for those who are vaccinated. Residents who are unvaccinated must continue to wear masks indoors. In addition, both counties say the mask requirements will stay in place for schools, hospitals, jails and nursing homes.
