KLAMATH DAMS REMOVAL

KLAMATH, Calif. (KIEM) There is only one week left to let federal regulators know your thoughts on the proposed removal of four dams along the Klamath River.

Input is being accepted until April 18th, 2022, on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s draft environmental impact report.

That report says dam removal along the river would improve water quality and help the threatened salmon population.

The removal of the dams would open up about 400 miles of creeks and tributaries that experts say are important for salmon.

A step-by-step guide on how to file comments with FERC can be found here: How to file a Comment | Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (ferc.gov) (FERC 2022b).
