Multi-parcel illegal cannabis cultivation operation

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif.(KIEM)- Sheriff’s deputies launch a sweep of Humboldt County — raiding numerous illegal cannabis operations.

The crackdown that took place over the past week targeted operations that lacked county permits for commercial cultivation.

Those raids included one in the Blocksburg area that uncovered over 2-thousand plants being grown.

And another in the Korbel area, deputies found over a thousand plants and more than a hundred pounds of processed cannabis.

And at a Fortuna home, authorities found over 3-hundred plants being grown.

The investigation has to lead to two suspects.

“So they weren’t arrested or contacted on the scene, but they were identified through an investigation as being responsible for this operation. So their information, as well as all of the investigative information, is going to be sent to the District Attorney’s Office,” said Samantha Karges, Public Information Specialist with Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.

In addition to facing charges for the un-permitted grow operations, the property owners also face environmental violations for illegally diverting water and polluting waterways.
