Magnitude 3.4 earthquake occurs off Eureka coast

EURKEA — A magnitude 3.4 earthquake occurred of the coast of Eureka at 1:17 p.m. Friday.

Officially, the U.S. Geological survey pinpointed the center of the quake at 18 kilometers west-northwest of Bayview.

The USGS said a light shake from the quake was felt in McKinleyville, Arcata, Eureka and Fortuna.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
