COVID-19 Vaccines for Children 6 months through 5 Years Old

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calf. (KIEM)- Covid-19 vaccines are expected to start going into the littlest of arms this week here in California.

It comes after the CDC signed off on covid-19 vaccinations for children under age five over the weekend.

The agency joined the FDA in authorizing Moderna’s two-dose vaccine series. The shots are recommended to prevent against covid-19 in children six months of age through five years. Each dose of Moderna’s vaccine for younger children is only a fourth of what adults get. The state of California’s top doctor is using the occasion to urge vaccinations for everyone in families — adults and children alike.

“Means that our young people can thrive in the activities we know make a difference in their lives. So today, reach out to your physician’s office, reach out to your clinic and learn how you can get not just your youngest people in your family vaccinated, but your whole family,” said Dr. Mark Ghaly, California Health and Human Services Secretary.
