Bear Sightings in McKinleyville

MCKINLEYVILLE, Calif. (KIEM)- Bear sightings in a McKinleyville neighborhood is prompting plenty of talk among local residents, here is a picture of a bear recently walking through a neighborhood.

This is a snapshot from a recent video taken by McKinleyville resident Jennifer Dunham, who shared it with us at Redwood News.

The video got hundreds of reactions when she posted it to a local Facebook group with many others saying, they too have seen bears in the area.

here’s what one resident tells us she’s observed.

“I was walking my dog over here in the field, and there are signs of bears in the area. There’s some scat in two different places. So, they definitely are in the area, surprisingly, because this is a heavily populated area. So, they’re probably coming into the neighborhood for people’s garbage,” said Gwen Paliotti.
