Outside the Carole Sund Day Center. Dec. 14

[Editor’s Note: The participants/clients are unnamed due to confidentiality.]

In need of some locally grown plants to brighten up your home? Look no further than to the Carole Sund Day Center where a holiday plant sale for a good cause is taking place until the end of this week.

The Carole Sund Program opened back in the year 2000; it continues to provide support and resources for adults with disabilities. The program has a farm located in Eureka and is one way for adult participants and/or clients within the program to be out and active while contributing to the Humboldt community.

The participants also earn paychecks through their hard work and sales such as these.

I spoke with the participants to get their perspective on the sale and what they enjoy about the program.

“It gives us a chance to work together,” one of the participants said. “I like the Sund program, it’s awesome.”

Another participant enjoys working with the farm animals that they have at the center and other crafts provided to them. The holiday sale has a variety of plants, as well as other handmade items made by the participants.

“We also make crafts and stuff and sell them, we made bags, we have some lovely cinnamon pinecones, too,” another participant said.

The sale runs until the 16th this week from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. each day.

“Check it out,it’s worth it, we can make you a great deal.”
