A Fortuna vet office is talking about the cat problem in Humboldt County.

The name of the clinic is Critters Without Litters.

They operate under Humboldt Humane as the main organization that has all of their outreach programs.

“There’s a cat problem all over the United States. But yes, most definitely we have a very large issue here in Humboldt County where part of that’s just our terrain. Being farmland and forest land is that there’s even more of an issue, rural areas, I think you see it more, and we definitely have, feral colonies everywhere,” said Kari Crockett, Executive Director of Humboldt humane society.

“We get phone calls every day, and we have a TNR program and volunteers, and it’s unbelievable how busy their cats,” she said.

“People don’t realize that, that little adorable female kitten can get pregnant as early as four months, so at four months we get pregnant. We have our first kittens before six months old, and then those kittens just progress and progress and progress. And when you do that, all of a sudden you have an entire colony of 20 and it’s been a year, year and a half,  the critters without litters clinic is non-profit and open to everybody of all financial levels whether it be a feral cat, community cat, or your own pet. Their goal is to reduce the amount of unfixed animals in Humboldt county. You can make your own appointment on Humboldt Humanes website or by giving them a call,” said Crockett.

“It’s important for people to know that we are here. We are located at 307A for Enbridge, drive in and close to Ferndale and we are here to service the whole community of Humboldt County,” she said.

If you’re interested in supporting the cause, the 3rd annual spay-ghetti no balls halloween party is presented by companion animal shelter and Humboldt Humanes critters without litters on October 26th.
