Fortuna Rodeo continues with carnival, junior rodeo
FORTUNA- Thursday marked day four of the Fortuna Rodeo and local residents were out enjoying the carnival and the junior round-up.
The carnival is a staple of the Fortuna Rodeo and has been part of the fun for over sixty years. With activities for all ages, officials say they expect more than six thousand visitors to come out for the carnival alone.
“The carnival itself seems to be growing,” said Fortuna Rodeo Association President Shannon McWhorter. “The revenue from the carnival has been steadily growing every year and I think people that live around the area really look forward to the carnival every year”
At the junior rodeo, nearly 200 kids from across the state competed in roping and bull riding competitions. This is Fortuna Rodeo’s twenty-first year hosting a junior roundup. Officials say they began preparing for the events months in advance and that many of the competitors will go on to compete for college scholarships.
