ARCATA – The doors were open and the trucks were out over at the Arcata fire station on Saturday.
The firefighters kicked off fire prevention week with an open house to show the community all the equipment the station uses to keep them safe. Not only that, but families were able to come out and get hands-on with the gear. Fire prevention week is intended to help inform the community about the best ways to prevent and suppress fires.
The firefighters here say they look forward to this day every year because it gives them a chance to connect with the community they protect.
