National School Bus Safety Week reminds citizens how to keep kids safe

ARCATA – A child’s safety is important, not just to parents, but everyone else looking over them during the day. This week California Highway Patrol is reminding drivers to stop for school buses during national school bus safety week.

This year’s theme is ‘Stop on Red’, motorists who do not stop for the flashing red lights and crossing arm of a school bus put students and drivers in danger. CHP says taking the bus is by far the safest way for children to get to and from school, but that safety is no accident and everyone contributes to keeping the kids safe.

CHP works closely with California schools to educate motorists, students, and parents, on ways to stay safe.
