Humboldt inmate fails to return to jail after being granted court-ordered pass

EUREKA, CA. – A Humboldt County Court ruled to let an inmate take a brief leave from jail, but he didn’t return by deadline.

32-year-old Kaleb Cory Severe was arrested by Arcata Police and booked about two weeks ago on charges of resisting arrest, three misdemeanor counts of violation of probation, one count of felony probation violation, and violating a restraining order.

He was released on Saturday on a court-ordered pass, an allowance made by the courts for some incarcerated people to attend funerals or the like.

While Severe was scheduled to return that evening at 8, he has yet to come back.

He is now additionally charged with willful failure to return.
