Arcata Fire District opens its doors to the community

McKinleyville., Ca (KIEM)- While the community was out enjoying the pony express days parade those who stopped by the Arcata Fire District, got a behind-the-scenes-look at what goes into keeping the community safe. Plenty of interactive thing to do like a small obstacle course and examples of how fires spread kept the children entertained.

Fire Chief Justin McDonald says it’s a fun way to educate the community about the folks that work every day to keep them safe. Many representatives of public safety were there including CERT North Coast Weather Service, and a visit from Smokey the Bear.
