Fortuna’s Police Citizen Academy is accepting applications

FORTUNA., CA- Fortuna’s Police Department says there’s been an uptick in crime within the last two years. But there’s a plan to change the trend.

The Fortuna Police Citizen Academy will show you that there are many things anyone can do to help lower crime. This program provides a behind the scenes, hands-on view of the roles and responsibilities of the department. The eight week course is free and involves a range of activities from arrest and radio procedures, crime prevention tactics and a ride along. It’s also a requirement to be a police department volunteer.

The course starts in mid-September, to register visit the Fortuna Police Department.
