Humboldt Bay Fire responds to structure fire in Eureka

EUREKA- Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a structure fire on the 1300 block of Gross Street in Eureka around 5:30 p.m.

The first arriving engine reported significant smoke coming from a single story residential structure. An occupant was attempting to extinguish the fire, before crews took over. It was determined the fire was caused by combustibles too close to a wood stove.

Firefighters remained on scene for 30 minutes. The fire caused over $2,000 in damage.
