National Weather Service warns beachgoers of sneaker waves

Humboldt County, Ca., (KIEM) The National Weather Service warns that there will be an increased threat of sneaker waves Sunday evening into Monday along area beaches.

Sneaker waves are large waves that come out of nowhere and can pose a danger to beachgoers.

Weather officials say to be careful as a sneaker wave can knock you off your feet, and potentially pull you into the ocean.

According to reports just last week, A 39-year-old Northern California man was killed after being swept off a rock by a sneaker wave on Luffenholtz Beach, located south of Trinidad.
