East Fire grows to 405 acres, 20 percent contained

MENDOCINO NATIONAL FOREST(KIEM)-The East Fire continues to burn but at a slow rate near the middle Eel River in the Yolla Bolly Wilderness.

The 405 acre blaze started last Monday and is 20 percent contained. There are 100 fire fighters on scene but with favorable weather this week with temperatures in the upper 60’s to lower 70’s, some crews will be released.

Hikers are asked to avoid areas near Buck Ridge and Wrights Ridge.
