Terra-Gen Reaches Agreement with Union

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – Terra-Gen reached a labor agreement with Humboldt Del Norte Building and Construction trades.

The power company announced the agreement on Monday, Dec. 9.

The agreement guarantees that union labor will build the Humboldt Wind Project.

The project will create short and long term employment opportunities.

It will create approximately 15 full-time jobs and about 300 construction jobs.

The city of Rio Dell is opposed to the project with concerns over the rush of the project; as well as, environmental issues and concerns that have gone unanswered by the commission and the board.

There is also controversy over the location of the project in that Bear River Ridge is sacred grounds for the Wiyot Tribe.

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors will have a special hearing about the Humboldt Wind Project on Monday, Dec. 16 at the Adorni Center in Eureka.
