Hazardous Conditions Close A Portion of Highway 199

Del Norte County (KIEM)- Highway 199 is shut down East of Gasquet due to hazardous road conditions.

Around 9:30 Wednesday evening, California Highway Patrol shut down 199 from Signal Peak Viaduct to Cooper Flat Road, after a tree fell blocking both lanes.

According to officers, snow has been falling in the area and several cars have been sliding.

Around 10:30 p.m., CHP says more trees have fallen into power lines.

It is unknown when the road way will reopen.
