Fortuna Firefighters in Training Learn New Skills

FORTUNA, Ca. (KIEM) – Local firefighters in training learned about ladders and ventilation Saturday at the volunteer Fortuna fire station.

The 2020 Eel River valley probationary academy started its training on March 5. The academy provides entry-level structural firefighting and rescue training to Humboldt county locals that want to become volunteer firefighters.

By the end of the seven weeks, students will have put in 80 hours of training and will be ready to serve their community.
