25 new COVID-19 cases reported in Humboldt County since Friday

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – The Public Health Department reports 25 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday, bringing Humboldt County’s total case count to 434.

Over the weekend, 24 more recoveries were reported bringing that number to 372.  Hospitalizations remain the same.

Of the total cases, 260 had contact to a known case, 92 are travel related and 54 are a result of community transmission.

Since August 31, seven more cases have been reported in Northern Humboldt County, 25 more in the Greater Humboldt Bay Area  and 14 more cases have been reported in Southern Humboldt.

Over the last month, the mean age of positive cases has dropped from 38 to 36.

The percentage of positive cases in males jumped from 47% to 51% while the percentage of positive cases in females dropped from 52% to 48%.

As far as the age breakdown, every age group experienced an increase in cases over the last week.

Four new cases have been reported for people under the age of 20, 10 more cases for people in their 20’s and people in their 30’s saw the largest increase with 14 new cases.

People in their 40’s saw four new cases, five more cases have been reported for people in their  50’s, three more for people in their 60’s, four more for people in their 70’s and two more cases have been reported for people at least 80 years of age.

There are 28 cases under investigation with health officials monitoring 58 active cases.
