Community helps feed Crescent City hospital staff

CRESCENT CITY, Calif. (KIEM)- Healthcare workers have been hit hard with the recent surge of covid-19 cases and hospitalizations. So, a group of community members in Crescent City have decided to help one of the hospitals in that area.

Del Norte county supervisor Valerie Starkey along with some people from the community have been providing food for the staff at Sutter Coast Hospital for the past two weeks.

Not only that but, the Wild Rivers Community Foundation heard about Starkey and her team’s effort and wanted to help as well providing a $30,000 grant that has helped Starkey connect with local restaurants, food trucks and caterers to provide prepackaged meals.

“It is our goal, and it is our hope to really take care of those who are taking care of us,” said Starkey. “At this point, those are the people who are doing that. You know, all of the healthcare providers.”

For people who want to donate or businesses that want to provide meals, you can contact Starkey at (707) 490-9177.
