EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) A woman was driving her SUV as powerlines dangled above from an outage that impacted over a hundred homes in the Myrtle town area. The incident took place on the afternoon of February 21, 2022, along Mitchell Road at Carlson Lane near Eureka. A power pole with a transformer on it blew and came down around 2:00 PM that afternoon. That left electrical lines hanging low over a vehicle on the roadway, trapping a woman inside. Crews were eventually able to get it cleared, so that she could drive away from the scene. Initially there were over 200 PG&E customers impacted by the power outage. The utility company said that 111 were without power as the incident was occurring and will have power restored by 2:00 AM in the middle of the night.
