Near the top of Burnt Ranch mountain, Tony Lynch and Two Rivers Pet and Wildlife rescued six dogs that were chained up outside to vehicles in snowy weather conditions.

Lynch was told about the abandoned dogs and traveled several miles in increasingly deep snow conditions with Two Rivers Pet and Wildlife. Two puppies were rescued by a couple who had been doing their best to help the six dogs for months by delivering food when they could. The breed of the dogs has been confirmed to be Anatolian and they are known to be large pups.

Lynch rescued Violet, a dog that was near Cedar Flat Picnic Area, who was howling for her owner and wandering back and forth. Lynch kept watch of the dog, trying to bring her home and get her safely across to his side, even using a drone to track Violet from the sky above. Lynch was happy to help bring Violet home, ending his 2023 on a high note.

The plan moving forward according to Lynch is to bring one dog at a time off the mountain and will have volunteers to foster them until a permanent home is found for each dog. If you can foster or adopt one of these dogs, send an email to Two Rivers Pet and Wildlife at tworiverspawws@gmail.com.Â
