Soccer and volleyball home games at Cal Poly Humboldt will offer free admission this coming academic year. That’s due to sponsorships from mortgages with Oceana and the Danco Group.

“We’ve had a long standing relationship with the Danco Company, and they’ve been huge sponsors of not just the men’s soccer program, but also our entire athletic department”, says Fred Jungermann, head coach of Cal Poly Humboldt Men’s Soccer.

The hope is to get more fans out to games.

“I think it’s just really exciting. The feel of the community. Feeling like people are at the game and seeing people cheer us on and stuff like that feeling inspires us and it makes us feel like we’re playing for more than just ourselves as a team and the school. So it’s cool to see people excited about it”, says Cooper Stephens, Cal Poly Humboldt Men’s Soccer forward.

With an optimistic outlook, the team is gearing up for the upcoming season.

“I feel like there’s a lot of good energy around the team right now, and especially last season. We had a lot of new guys and we had to kind of build that chemistry, whereas this year it’s kind of built in. We played together last year and in the spring, so I think it’s all coming together to have a good season this year”, says James Haynes, Cal Poly Humboldt Men’s Soccer midfielder.

“We have a good mix of experience, some upperclassmen returning and then a lot of young talent as well. So we’re all very optimistic and looking forward to a great season”, says Coach Jungermann.

The first women’s soccer game is September 5h, men’s is the 6th, and the first Volleyball game is also September 5th.
