Humboldt Bay dredging project has begun

EUREKA, Ca (KIEM) – The Humboldt Bay dredging project started on Thursday and is planned to clean out the water over the next few weeks.

While working closely with Congressman Jared Huffman and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Humboldt County Harbor District has been trying to keep the bay open for shipping and navigation.

The body of water between Woodley Island and the Eureka mainland is supposed to be twenty-seven feet deep, but over the last few years it has become shallow.

With this dredging project, the waters will clear out as it allows for safe and smooth traffic to and from the bay.
