Fortuna man accused of shooting at Warden to stand trial

EUREKA- A trial date has been set for Shawn Eugene Hof Jr. from Fortuna for attempting to murder a Fish and Wildlife Warden.

Hof is accused of firing 10 gunshots at a pursuing patrol vehicle. A judge set the trail date for November 20^th after Hof’s public defender entered a not guilty plea.

He is also being charged as a felon in possession of a firearm, his previous felony conviction was in 2012 for car theft in Shasta County.

Hof’s attorney claims if Hof did fire at the game warden his only motive was to slow him down, not to kill him.
