Rio Dell Voters Favor Commercial Cannabis Tax

Rio Dell, Ca., (KIEM)- Rio Dell voters give the okay for a commercial cannabis tax. A preliminary tally says 82% of voters marked ‘Yes’ on Measure X. Not all ballots have been tallied, but city manager Kyle Knopp says,  the city is not anticipating a change in the ultimate passage of the tax.

“This is ultimately going to be a multi-year economic development program for the city.” He says, “The council has prioritized street repairs and police services as major areas of investment for the city.”

Knopp also stresses the tax only applies to the commercial cannabis industry. It will not be applied to medical and recreational marijuana users, or hemp products.
