EUREKA, CA. – The search for a new home for Eureka’s corp yard is suspended.
For six months, the city has been looking to move the current corp yard near Costco away from that area.
The goals were to allow for Costco to expand, as well as to move the current corp yard out of the tsunami zone.
An original idea was to move the corp yard to Kennedy Field, across from the Sequoia Park Zoo, however some community members strongly detested that idea and it was removed from consideration.
At this point, the project has been estimated to be too costly and is suspended.
The city says they will reconsider the project in the future, should grant funding become available.
