Fortuna barn destroyed by suspicious blaze

FORTUNA, CA. – A Fortuna barn is destroyed Saturday in an early morning blaze.

Emergency crews responded just before 4AM to the report of a barn near 12th Street and Loni Drive setting fire.

Multiple teams came together to take down the flames – including members from Rio Dell Volunteer Fire Department, Ferndale Volunteer Fire, and Loleta Volunteer Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is considered to be suspicious and continues to be under investigation.

Fortuna Fire confirmed that no people or animals were injured.

The old barn was a complete loss, and a nearby structure and six vehicles were also damaged.
