CAL FIRE: How to prepare for wildfire season

Because wildfire season is upon us, if your household had to evacuate within a moment’s notice, would you be prepared? And what would you do with your pets? In the case of an immediate evacuation, CAL FIRE representatives want you to remember the six p’s.

Cal fire suggests preparing an emergency supply kit that is easily accessible to your family members with all of the items listed here, along with non-perishable food and water, and a first aid.

Of upmost importance is people and pets. CAL FIRE suggests having a pet disaster preparedness kit, and to always plan ahead where you would take or leave your pets in the event disaster strikes.

It may also be important to arrange in advance with a neighbor to check on or transport your pets in case you’re not home at the time of an emergency. CAL FIRE says that if you must leave an animal behind, to leave them unchained, to allow them a chance to escape.
